    Class Outline:

Planning, timing, and other cooking secrets

We can paint ourselves into a corner when cooking a meal. People with expectations, hungry people looking at the time asking when dinner will be ready. While some elements of cooking require tricky techniques and high levels of skill, the tasks and processes required for most of our meals just need simple organisation, planning and timing.

Planning, timing and other cooking secrets is a CooksClub class that helps calm and organise the cooking process. Missing a step, forgetting an ingredient, having something cook too much while other ingredients seem to never be ready.

    • What order to address each element of the cooking process.
    • What you always must do 5 minutes before you are ready to serve.

    FAQ's for Classes & Experiences

    Pricing

The price of a single admission to a scheduled group class is $45.00. A bundle of 4 tickets is $149.00. ($37.25 each)

Tickets may be used for one person attending multiple classes or shared with others individually or as a group.

With a private session you can select your own booking time and session theme.

A private session with a CooksClub Kitchen Coach is $85 for a single or $149 for up to four people.

For more than four people, additional tickets may be purchased at $37.25 each. Simply request a booking time and theme and enter the number of people attending.

    Bookings & Cancellations

Group sessions for each class or experience are scheduled 60 to 90 days in advance. Times are listed on the class details page. Simply book your time and buy your ticket.

If you wish to select your own session time and theme, then you need to purchase either a single private session at $85, or pay $149 which covers up to four people in a single session. (see pricing)

Prior to each session, costs are incurred by the Kitchen Coach host for the purchase of the ingredients required to present the class. The host’s time is also reserved.

We therefore ask for 24 hours notice for scheduled group session cancellations, and 48 hours notice for private sessions.

Where notice is provided, your tickets will remain valid and sessions may be re-booked for any other session or time.

    What are Zoom Classes?

All CooksClub classes and experiences are held on Zoom.

Zoom is a third-party cloud platform for video conferencing and can be used on desktop computers, tablets, and mobile devices.

What computer, camera, or browser do I need?

The session outline will provide a list of ingredients and equipment and you will receive an email confirming all details when you book.

The class is presented on Zoom. You can use many of the latest IOS or Android phones or tablets. Laptops are also great because the larger screen offers a potentially better experience.

    Here is a top-line outline:

    • An internet connection – broadband wired or wireless (3G or 4G/LTE)
    • Speakers and a microphone – built-in or USB plug-in or wireless Bluetooth
    • A webcam or HD webcam – built-in or USB plug-in
    • Or, a HD cam or HD camcorder with video capture card.

Difference between a Class & an Experience?

We use the two terms because not all sessions that get listed might follow a structured “class” or learning format.

An “experience” might include food presentation as a show or a social event. It could be a Paella Party or a Sushi and Sake event, where the emphasis is shared across learning, fun and entertainment.

The different types of Experiences reflect the style and price level of the event. Black Tie Experiences are often fundraising or charity events.

When, where and how to join the class

Your Kitchen Coach will be there to welcome you to the class kitchen 10 minutes before the class begins. You should join at least 5 minutes prior to the session time so that you are settled in, made sure everything is working properly and you are ready to start.

You join the class by clicking the link in your confirmation email. Once you have paid and your booking is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with a link and a security pass code that allows you to join the online class or experience.

You will also receive a reminder email sent 24 hours before the online experience begins.

You have paid for this so don’t be late or keep other people waiting. The class will start at the scheduled time regardless of whether you are there. It’s important to note that your Kitchen Coach has the option to reject late attendees, and that people who arrive late are not eligible for a refund.

Can I have someone in the kitchen with me?

    It depends on the class.

You can have multiple registered/paid attendees share a kitchen, (say for an experience) providing that you are comfortable that the facilities required for that session are accommodated.

Some classes marked as “Kid Friendly” allow a little helper (<13) so long as you manage them. (your mic is muted by the host unless you raise your hand to ask a question)

However, to ensure the best experience for everyone, sessions are limited to a maximum number of registered guests. It would not be fair to everyone if individual attendees added unregistered people to a class.

The attendance rules for Private, Black Tie or Custom group events are set individually for each event.

    Security on Zoom
    • A random, password-protected meeting ID is created for each experience
    • The ‘waiting room’ feature is on by default, allowing hosts to admit guests into the Zoom meeting room individually
    • Group chat feature is enabled so you can message other guests during the class
    • Classes or Experiences cannot be recorded
    • Guest video is turned off upon entry into the Zoom meeting room
    • Files cannot be transferred through Zoom
To protect your privacy on Zoom
    • Don’t share the password-protected Zoom meeting link with anyone else
    • Use the most up-to-date version of the Zoom app
    • Be aware of your surroundings and what’s behind you when you are on camera—your host and other guests will be able to see it
    • Mute yourself until you’re ready to speak
    • Take care when using the group chat feature as all participants will be able to read what you post
    • If you don’t want to provide your full name to the guests and hosts of your experience, you can input a different handle or use your first name only when logging into Zoom
    • Please do not screenshot or take photos of your host or other guests without their permission
    Zoom issues

Make sure you have the correct link for your class or experience. If the link isn’t working, close Zoom and try the link again. If it’s still not working, message your Kitchen Coach to confirm whether they’re having issues with Zoom.

If Zoom is asking you for a password, check your email or message your Kitchen Coach to confirm the password.

Finally, if the host isn’t having any issues, visit the Zoom Help Centre.

Privacy or safety issues during the class

If you come across any inappropriate content, or have an issue concerning privacy or safety during your experience, contact your Kitchen Coach immediately.
