Paella a party on a plate
Paella is a great dish for entertaining and sharing. This session is a chance to create and test a dish in the safety of a group. The processes required for making Paella are simple enough not to be scary, but there are a few tricks to getting it just right.
When you make paella, you know you are really cooking. This class is about creating a knock-out dish to impress. It tastes sensational and looks so impressive when you place it on the table.
What we are looking for is something like this. This look is genuinely something like what you will be able to produce:
Paella is recognised as originating from the Spanish city of Valencia. This class focuses on preparation, layering flavours and developing a good structure to your method. We look at the various ingredients and the Socarrat which is the crusty section that you use a large spoon to scrape from the bottom of the pan. It is considered the tastiest part of the paella.
Who should take this class? People who:
- Like entertaining and want a dish that can be served as a great sit-down meal or for more informal dining.
- Are looking for a cooking activity to share with friends.
- Want a magic meal that shows what you are capable of.
- Love the Spanish style and flavour and want to enjoy one of the best examples of Spanish cuisine.
The dish created from the exercise will follow the theme of a Spanish Paella. (respect shown to origins of the traditional Valencian dish, but wide variations also acknowledged)
